B-Negative The Modding Interview

Modding interview : B-Negative

Interview Part 1

As you can see, the bar has been set very high, now that the money shots have been well and truly drooled over, let the interrogation begin.

  1. So who are you and what is it that you do?

  2. I’m B NEGATIVE, irresponsible owner of power tools.

  3. How long have you been into PCs and what was your first RIG?

  4. Been into computing from a very early age, I rocked my first computer at 11 (Spectrum 48)…nearly 30 years ago, I predate the internet and remember when naked ladies had staples for belly buttons… My first PC was a 386 but the first rig worth remembering was a Pentium Pro.

  1. When did you get into modding and what was your first modding project?

  2. I got into modding about 5 yrs ago, before that I was mainly about watercooling. My first serious project was my SR2 build, that thing was awesome……

  3. Which of your builds so far do you favour?

  4. My favorite has to be LUMO, I love that build to bits, one that will get incremental upgrades rather than dust collecting.

  5. Where do you get your inspiration for all your builds?

  6. I find that looking at cases and seeing potential has to be the starting point for me, although I go deep with the detail I tend to leave the basic shape close to the thing that drew me to the case to begin with.

  7. Are there any other modders within the communities whose work you admire?

  8. There are a few tbh, Paul Edwards (the Modfather), Nexxo (BT), Cheapskate (BT), Ace Finland (BT), G Tek (BT)….the list is long. The main thing I like about these guys is you can say you don’t like something without them sticking their bottom lip out and sulking…..

  1. What do you feel are the best and worst things you can do when modding a RIG?

  2. The best thing for me is the tried and true, Keep It Simple Stupid. Don’t go all crazy, work within your skill set or be prepared to have to learn relevant skills to a high standard. The worst thing? Going in without a plan or the wrong motivation, build because you love it, it will show later…..

  3. While on the subject, which part of a build process do you enjoy the most?

  4. I love the initial design work and layout, I get a lot of pleasure from achieving a build that goes together well because it was thought out right first.

  5. As with the previous question, alternatively, which part do you dread?

  6. Clear coating paint. Hands down. I hate it because the hours you put in to make it all look great can come undone in an instant, if clear runs then there is a high chance it will pull the paint with it…..miserable times ahead if it does…..
