Fractal Define 7/Define 7 XL Review

Up Close – The Define 7 XL

Fractal’s Define 7 is HUGE, providing PC builders with ample space for a dual-EPYC (or XEON) setup and enough water cooling to keep almost anything cool and quiet. This beast can accommodate a 480mm water cooling radiator, a feat which is extremely uncommon within the PC market.

On the other side of the PC spectrum, storage enthusiasts will also find that this case has enough room for up to 18 3.5-inch drives, which should be more than enough for your home storage needs.

With the rise of AMD’s Threadripper platform and the competitive nature of today’s HEDT and server processor markets, the need for EATX cases has grown a lot over the past year. With that need has come a desire for more large form factor cases, and Fractal’s Define 7 XL is designed to fill that niche in today’s PC market.

With the Define 7 XL, Fractal now offers users support for two 5.25-inch drives, support for three vertically mounted PCIe slots, additional motherboard space in all directions (delivering compatibility with most server-grade EATX motherboards) and support for all of the same design features at Fractal’s Define 7.

If you want a tonne of HDDs, Fractal’s Define 7 XL should offer you more than enough space to suit your needs. If you need more storage than this, you should forget about getting a case that can fit on your desk.

Like the standard Define 7 the Define 7 XL also ships with an integrated fan controller, which offers users connections for both 3-pin and 4-pin fans. The Define 7 Xl also supports movable rubber grommets, so that users of this case can route their cables in a way that better matches the size of their chosen motherboard.
