It’s time to Make Cooler Master Great Again!

We’ve a lot to talk about – Subscriber Video #37

If you’re a longtime follower of OC3D, you’ll know that it’s been a while since we’ve released a subscriber video. There are a few things we wanted to discuss, particularly regarding Cooler Master. We’ve a lot of reviews on the horizon, but we also have plans for extensive PC customisation and modding content. As fun as it is to build PCs using off-the-shelf parts, it’s time we got our mod on once again.

If you prefer video, OC3D Subscriber Video #37 is available to watch below. If you prefer the written word, you’re in the right place. We’ll be talking about the same stuff here.

Cooler Master MasterFrame 600 Review: Controversy

Things got a bit political for us this week, and we can thank our Cooler Master MasterFrame 600 review for that. To say the least, our coverage of that case was far from positive. We felt that some things needed to be said and that we needed to draw a line in the sand. The MasterFrame 600 isn’t a good case, in its released guise its just dated and too expensive. We believe that some constructive feedback can help steer Cooler Master in the right direction.

We’re passionate about what we do here, and sometimes, there is only one way to convince companies that things need to change. A simple review with a 7/10 score and a refusal to be pedantic to keep within a set contract and keep the brand happy, isnt us.
Cooler Master has been off the boil lately, and we want them to get back cooking.

In the face of harsh coverage, it isn’t uncommon for some brands to think that we are against them. We’re PC enthusiasts here, and we want companies to create good products. Sometimes, good products come from harsh criticisms. After all, you can’t fix something if you don’t know it’s broken. Although, we know full well other media had raised a lot of our points and they got….. Ignored.

So if any Cooler Master’s are reading this, know that we don’t hate you. In fact, we are excited about some of your upcoming cases. The MasterFrame 600 is a low point, but things are looking up.

Upcoming Review – Phanteks Evolv Series X2

We’re about to start reviewing Phanteks’ Evolv Series X2 case, and you’ll soon understand why as we delve deeper into this article. It’s been a long time since we have worked with Phanteks, and to be honest, we still aren’t working with them. We bought this case ourselves; Phanteks did not send us this case.

Phanteks, we have given you harsh coverage in the past. We were very honest with our opinions, and we haven’t been sent anything since. Requests have been made for products we found interesting, but we haven’t been sampled products for years. Phanteks, the door is always open if you want to work together again.

(Tom likes the Phanteks Evolv Series X2, just look at him point at it!)

Why we’ve bought the Phanteks Evolv Series X2

We purchased a Phanteks Evolv Series X2 to review it. We will be looking at some other similarly designed cases in the future, and we wanted to be able to compare those with the Evolv Series X2. This case has a bottom-up airflow pattern and glass panels on three sides. Simply put, we think it looks fantastic, and it seems well priced at £139.99.

It’s always good to get hands-on with interesting products. It’s also beneficial to compare new cases with what you see as their competition. Another reason is that Tom fancies a case change, which means that his main “work” system may soon be moving into a new home.

Unreleased Cooler Master Case #1 – NCore 600

In our possession, we have a Cooler Master NCore 600. This case was our favourite PC case of Computex 2024. Unfortunately, this PC case was never released, and we think that is a shame. This is a cracking PC case, and it deserves its time to shine. This case was sent to us, but we were then instructed not to provide any major coverage on it.

This has placed us in a strange position, as we now have a product that may never be released. So what do we do with it? Maybe a competition? Who knows. It would be a shame if nothing were done with this case.

(The NCore 600 exists! We have one)

As far as we are aware, the two curved glass sections at the front of this case are the reason why it was never put into production. Honestly, that’s a travesty. This case would still be great if it used flat tempered glass panels. This case was taken down by something very simple. Yes, curved glass is nice, but a PC case doesn’t need curved glass to look good. Just look at the Phanteks Evolv Series X2.

(The Cooler Master NCore 600 was our favourite case of Computex 2024 – It hasn’t been released)

Unreleased Cooler Master Case #2 – Pre-Production MasterFrame 360

We’ve just received a pre-production version of Cooler Master’s MasterFrame 360. Only a handful of these cases exist, and unlike the MasterFrame 600, we like this case’s design.

We plan to review this case; however, due to its pre-production status, it will not be the same as what will eventually become available through retailers. This means that Cooler Master can improve this case based on our feedback. It could also act as an interesting case study in how products can evolve ahead of launch.

Note that our plan isn’t just to review this case. We plan to use it. We plan to modify it. We’re going to “Make it Ours.” That means that this case will be painted and turned into something special.

(Pre-production MasterFrame 360 – Wait… is that a Cooler Master GPU?)

We plan to heavily customise this MasterFrame 360

Cooler Master’s slogan is “Make it Yours”, and we are taking that to heart. We’ve been yearning to make something custom, so you should expect to see something special soon. If you see a GPU in the picture above, know that we have plans for that too. We’re going to customise that as well.

This is going to be our biggest custom PC since Orca. If you’ve followed OC3D for a while, you will know what that is. If not, you can see the system here.

We’re excited about some of Cooler Master’s future products – Enter the Elite 600

One of our favourite products of Computex 2025 is Cooler Master’s Elite 600. This case is set to launch with pricing between £80 and £90. Now that’s a solid price for a great-looking ‘modern’ PC case. Cooler Master has some exciting products on the horizon. This case has the potential to be a big seller.

(The Cooler Master Elite 600 was one of our favourite PC cases of Computex 2025)

Cooler Master, we don’t hate you, we’re disappointed about the MasterFrame 600

It’s far too easy for brands to see negative coverage and never work with that outlet again or make working them them lots more difficult. It’s happened to us many times before. We don’t walk into any review wanting to he harsh or negative. If something needs to be said, it needs to be said. More often than not, our harsh reviews result in better next-generation products from the companies involved, even if they never work with us again.

Cooler Master, there are lessons to be learned from the MasterFrame 600. If acted upon, things will head in a better direction. The MasterFrame 600 needs some work and we know we are not the only media to have voiced this, Tom spoke to many media at Computex 24 and 25 who were concerend with your designs. The MasterFrame 360 has us excited though. We’re looking forward to seeing what we can do with this enclosure, but even this, needs work.

For old-school OC3D fans, expect some Orca-style custom PC content in the future. We can also expect to see a lot of PC case reviews. We’re going to be busy over the next few months. You’ll be able to see the fruits of that labour on the website, YouTube, and our social media channels.

You can join the discussion on Subscriber Video #37 on the OC3D Forums.
