Lian Li Q58 Mini ITX Case Review

Lian Li Q58 Mini ITX Case Review

First Look

With a size of 342mm x 170mm x 250mm, Lian Li’s Q58 chassis is very compact. This system sits somewhere in-between a PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in size, making it a tiny case considering the kinds of graphics cards and CPUs that can be fitted in here.

As you can see, we have the white version of the Q58 in our offices, and it features PCIe 4.0 support. A PCIe 3.0 version of this case is also available.

With the images above and below, we can see that this case features side panels that are 50:50 mesh and tempered glass. Each side of the Q58 has a tempered glass side panel and a mesh side panel by default, and Lian Li has designed these side panels to be removable and re-mountable, allowing users to place tempered glass and mesh side panels wherever they want them.

This allows users of this case to alter the airflow pattern of their chassis and control which components are visible through the Q58’s tempered glass windows. Additional side panels can also be purchased from retailers to give this case an all-glass or all-mesh aesthetic.

At the front of the Q58 is a USB 3.0 Type-A port, a USB 3.1 Type-C port and a single HD audio in/out jack. Everything a modern PC user needs and no more. This gives the front panel of the Q58 a minimalist look, giving it a clean and sharp appearance.

At the top of the Q58 is a meshed top panel, which is removable. Below this panel is a mounting plate that can be removed/replaced depending on your PC’s hardware requirements. We will explain more below.

Below we have the Q58’s default loadout, which is a 2x 120mm/140mm fan mount that has a 3.5/2.5-inch HDD/SSD mount attached to it. This mounting plate is designed to be used with the Lian Li Q58 in its SFX PSU configuration.

Below we have mounted the Q58’s ATX PSU mounting plate, which replaces the case’s stock plate. This new plate supports a single 120mm/140mm fan and contains mounting positions for a full-sized ATX power supply. This plate limits the storage and cooling options of the Q58 chassis, but it allows users to use larger power supplies, which may be worth it in some instances.

Below we can see the gullwing door design of the Lian Li Q58. Note that these side panels can be removed/replaced, allowing users of this case to orient this case how they desire. Also notice that this case supports triple-slot graphics cards, supporting GPU lengths of up to 325mm. However, only 315mm GPUs are supported when all of this case’s 2.5-inch slots are used.

Below we can see the Q58’s stock configuration, which supports SFX power supplies and Mini ITX cases. Note that longer BTX motherboards are not supported by the Q58. This is due to how this case’s PCIe extension is designed, as it is not long enough to fit on BTX motherboards.
