Noctua NH-D15 Review

Up Close:  Packaging and Contents

The NH-D15 comes in quite a sizeable box, so much so that when it arrived sheathed in an outer brown card box I thought I’d been sent another SFF case.  As with all Noctua products, the packaging is simple and mature, with details and specs given even if an image of the cooler within isn’t.

     

 

Otherwise known as the “Scope of delivery” basically this is what you get when you buy the NH-D15.  And my God do Noctua cram a lot inside that box.  Opening up a Noctua product is akin to archaeology, no sooner have you exposed and removed one layer, than another appears.  We’re great fans of how Noctua spend the time to make sure all their packaging fits together nicely, with each of the boxes clearly informing you of its purpose. 

     

 

With everything unpacked and laid out we can see that in total there are five boxes, each of which we shall look at in detail.  Starting off with the main accessories box which contains…Deep breath now… A pair of Low Noise Adapters (LNAs), a Y splitter, a set of rubber isolation feet, a set of fan grub screws, a tube of Noctua NT-H1 TIM, a pair of additional fan clips, a metal (yes metal) adhesive case badge and a full length screwdriver formed from bent steel.

     

 

Rather than have you confused about which set of fittings to select from a plastic bag, as is the case with most cooler accessories boxes, Noctua actually split the fittings and instructions needed for AMD and Intel CPUs between two separate containers.  Simply select the one you want and put the other to one side.

       

 

Although one of the fans comes pre attached to the cooler, the other NF-A15 comes in its own box.  These really are quite stunning fans.  However, by now, those who are regular readers will know how I feel about the colours.  For those of you that don’t I’ll simply say.  Mmmm Diarrhoea brown and Prosthetic limb beige…That’s going to match the rest of the kit in my case.
