Nvidia RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti Preview

Nvidia RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti Preview

Conclusion

There is a lot of stuff to discuss when it comes to Turing, so much so that this preview can only scratch the surface when it comes to the architecture’s many features and improvements.

Design-wise, Nvidia’s latest Founders Edition graphics cards are going to take a lot of getting used to, dropping DVI-D in favour of VirtualLink, adopting a dual-fan axial cooler over standard reference blowers and even Nvidia’s decision to release their Founders Edition models with a factory overclock over their “Reference” designs.

Right now, we can confirm that we have both Nvidia’s RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition graphics cards in the OC3D Offices, complete with drivers and everything that we need to complete our testing.

Reviews for Nvidia’s RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti are set to release next week on September 19th, where we will have a complete report on each graphics card that includes performance testing, overclocking data and plenty of other chatter.

Nvidia’s Turing Architecture is bringing the company in a bold new direction, one where both AI and Ray Tracing Compute will be offered alongside traditional rasterisation performance, bringing Nvidia’s efforts in the AI and self-driving car markets back into the gaming market. Only time will tell how these innovations will impact the lives of games, but we certainly look forward to finding out.
