ASRock X370 Taichi AM4 Motherboard Review

When you’ve reviewed as many motherboards as we have the endless tide of black PCBs with extremely similar red or white accents can become a little tiresome. So we have to say how pleased we are to see that the ASRock Taichi breaks the mould by going for a monochrome cog aesthetic, breaking up the acres of blackness. The way it blends into both the heatsinks is very good and, whilst we’re aware that some people won’t take to it, we really love the way it looks. Not just because it’s different, but because of the care taken in making in look special.

Storage definitely dominates the Taichi, with ten (count em) SATA ports and two M.2 slots. Cooling is catered for with dedicated water pump headers as well as a good selection of fan headers. In fact the only area that is slightly disappointing is the IO portion around the back where there are too few USB ports for the system we review on, much less once you start including all the peripherals that form part of a gaming setup. You definitely need to invest in a USB hub with the Taichi, but it’s a small niggle on an otherwise well featured motherboard.
