ASUS Strix Z270E and Z270F Review & Comparison

ASUS Strix Z270E and Z270F

Introduction

The Strix range appeared a couple of years ago and really stretched the ASUS designers into new territory. Whilst we’ve always loved the looks of the Republic of Gamers range they had grown slightly stale as the needs of sticking to the brand meant that each version was only mildly different to the predecessor. With the introduction of a new brand with the Strix it really freed their designers up to have a go at pushing their pencils into something new.

This has had multiple benefits. Firstly it must have sparked ASUS enthusiasm again. Any time you get a clean slate it helps reignite your passion. Secondly the Strix range was a runaway success which showed ASUS that the marketplace was willing to buy an ASUS product that wasn’t part of their ROG range which, thirdly, also proved that big design changes didn’t affect popularity which has seen the ROG range get adjusted in recent times.

Phew. Hopefully you followed all that. So having shown that the market would bear another brand ASUS have positioned their Z270 Strix range of motherboards in the mid-range, and bumped their ROG stuff back into the enthusiast range. We’ve got two Strix models up for review today, the E and the F. Although it’s worth noting that neither of those letters stand for Extreme or Formula. No siree.

Technical Specifications

Both the E and the F are extremely close in their specifications which is a large part of why we’re going to group them together today. The small part of why is that there are so many to get through we don’t want to make you re-read yet another very similar specification outline.
