Packaging and Accessories

The ROG Maximus Z790 Hero comes in the familiar black and red ASUS ROG packaging. It’s a fairly substantial box, but then it has a fairly substantial set of accessories.

The ROG Hyper M.2 card supports two additional M.2 slots via a PCI Express slot. Given how most of us have a spare slot because of the modern trend for a single GPU, it’s a great way to expand your storage without spending extra money.

We often joke about how many of these packets remain in the box long after we’ve built our system, and yet the visual impact of lifting a flap to discover a dozen or so accessories cannot be overstated. If you’re anything like us and love to make the most of your new purchase before starting your build, it also gives you something to stare at whilst you treble check you’ve backed up all you need to from your old rig.

SATA cables, the standard ASUS WiFi antenna and some RGB LED Strip extension leads are just some of the joys that await you if you choose the Maximus Hero.

You also get the sticker set that will be familiar to anyone who has purchased a ROG product before, as well as a keyring and the drivers are on a useful USB drive rather than a wasteful CD.
