ASUS Strix B660-A Gaming WiFi D4 Review

The Strix B660-A takes its styling cues from the Z690-A, which is great if you’re a big fan of a system in the white colourway, rather than the more common black. I wonder to whom that might apply.

  

Considering the Strix B66-A comes in under £200 it certainly doesn’t have the looks of a more affordable motherboard. The very nice brushed metal parts stand out boldly from the black PCB.

  

It’s only at the bottom right, where the SATA ports have been split across the corner and there isn’t much above them, that you even get a hint this isn’t one of the more expensive models in the ASUS range.

  

The top right corner brings us two headers for your AIO cooling, or twin fan tower cooler if that’s your bag, as well as the now standard AURA lighting headers for your RGB strips.

  

Front panel USB is available in both Type-C and Type-A variants to save you scrabbling around the back of your case every time you want to utilise removable media. You can also see the horizontal SATA ports.

  

Speaking of SATA ports the bottom edge is where the other two are, although here in the ‘annoying to cable manage’ vertical format. They sit next to more fan headers for all your cooling needs, as well as that double width M.2 heatspreader.

  

The bottom left has all the expected elements. One USB 2.0 front panel connector, more AURA RGB headers and the SupremeFX audio that has rendered discrete audio solutions a relic of the past.

  

Lastly around the back there are display outputs in the form of both HDMI and DisplayPort, four USB 2.0 ports, 3 USB 3.2 G1 in both Type-A and Type-C, one Type-C G2 port and even a USB 3.2 2×2 Type-C should you require even more bandwidth than usual.
