Introduction

We’re not suggesting that we’ve been at this for a long time here at OC3D, but we remember when ASUS first introduced the TUF moniker. It’s gone through a few iterations since then. At times it was the premium non-ROG model. At others it’s been comfortably the most affordable one. Last generation the TUF held on to DDR4 when the rest of the range had moved to DDR5.

However, given that we haven’t won the lottery yet, and we suspect most of you haven’t either, then the ASUS TUF Gaming X670E-Plus WiFi promises to give you all the benefits of the high throughput “5” features on the new AMD AM5 design, but at a significantly more affordable price point. Given how much some of the Republic of Gamers models are retailing at, we almost dare to say that the TUF is the motherboard which keeps an AMD build within the budgetary bounds that most of us are used to.

Should you have checked out the ASUS Prime before the TUF then this is probably as close as ASUS will get to being the black version of that motherboard. Of course if you’re here first, that is the white version of this. It’s nice to have a choice.

Technical Specifications

Despite it’s relatively affordable pricing the ASUS TUF still has all the features we expect to find with the X670E AMD chipset. 14+2 70A Power Stages – echoing the Prime – should give enough power to the Ryzen 7000 series of CPUs. Unlike the previous TUF ASUS have kept DDR5, as well as PCI Express 5.0 for both GPU and M.2. All the other PCIe slots are PCIe 4.0, whilst the M.2 is handled by 2 PCIe 4.0 and a single PCIe 3.0. Connectivity is handled by all the USB ports, and there is even a USB 4 Thunderbolt port should you desire it. Picture time.
