Up Close – In Detail Part Two

Continuing our tour of the EVGA X570 Dark, thankfully one of the briefer names we’ve had to type in recent weeks, we come to the 8 Lotes SATA connectors giving you plenty of places to install your SSDs.

A further example of the effort EVGA have made to helping us keep all our cables nice and tidy is the horizontally mounted connectors. It’s not the first motherboard we’ve seen with these, but we remain firm fans (ha!) of how easy they make it to neaten your system.

Such care has been put into the design of the EVGA Dark we wonder why everyone hasn’t utilised these ideas. Another great one is the placement of the RGB LED strip headers next to each other instead of two at one corner of the PCB and another two down here. Care and attention to detail for the user experience goes a long way in our book.

Hey I didn’t realise I could get my medical diagnosis imprinted on a capacitor? Why didn’t anyone tell me? Although if I have a slight quibble I’d have preferred them in white or red. Oh, it doesn’t mean that it’s just some high quality parts of the audio solution. Carry on.

The heatsink on the power section is nothing short of enormous. It’s the kind of size and engineering robustness one would expect from Brunel or a similarly capable Victorian engineer. Sturdy in the extreme.

Looking at it from an alternate angle only enhances this viewpoint. Everything very carefully placed and well covered with high fin density heatsinks and fat heat pipes. It might sound ridiculous to place such emphasis on build style, but attention to detail in one area usually indicates that the whole package has been similarly refined in the R&D stage.

Lastly around the back there are fewer USB ports than one might expect to find on a high end motherboard, although still plenty for the majority of users. With the addition of a combined PS/2 port – who first chose green and purple as the colours? – and twin RJ45 outputs the EVGA X570 Dark has got all your needs covered.
