Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX Review
Up Close – Packaging and Overview
The Aorus Elite AX has the now familiar Aorus eagle/hawk/bird of prey logo on the front, whilst the back side of the packaging shows off pretty much everything that it brings to the table.
As the entry level Aorus motherboard the accessories selection is sparse, but covers all your needs, from WiFi antenna through M.2 installation to the drivers and manual that, if you’re anything like us, you spend ages poring over whilst waiting for enough free time to build the thing.
It might be less expensive than some of its stablemates and forebears but the Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX still looks the part, with strong Aorus branding on both the heatsinks.
If you’ve grown weary of IO shield/Heatsink combos that resemble Time Square then the Elite AX might be just the motherboard for you. The Aorus branding is there, but in a much subtler way than Gigabyte’s more expensive options.
We’ll go over all the key details on the next page, but even a cursory glance shows that the Elite AX has enough connectivity and cooling options to be deserving of that Aorus brand name.
