MSI MEG Z890 Unify-X Overview
You can generally tell from a box what the target audience is for a particular product. We think it’s pretty clear that MSI intend the Unify-X to be used by those of you who can do without gobs of RGB frippery and instead want to focus hard on high performance. Certainly looking at the specifications and robustness of the component choices it’s apparent no expense has been spared in giving you the tools to extract the maximum from your setup.
It wouldn’t be a model in the flagship MSI MEG range if the Unify-X didn’t come with a plethora of accessories. Whatever you need to build a rig, it’s within the deep box.
Do you even wish you could tweak your system without either being in the BIOS or having your head in the case? The MSI Tuning Controller lets you fine tune the overclocking elements with a single click. Power, reset and CMOS Clear are all just a click away. It’s one of those things that you’ll either adore and keep on hand, or shrug and leave in the box gathering dust. We like having options, and this definitely gives us an alternate way to overclock.
Lastly the MEG Unify-X in all its glory. We’ll dig into the details on the next page as always. What we can’t decide on is whether we like the X design. Once you spot it it’s quite cool, but the break between the silver top half and ‘long load’ truck banner bottom half is too strong for them to appear, if you’ll pardon the pun, unified. It’s a bit.. striped for our tastes.
If you’re curious about the 6 pin power connector below the 24 pin one, it’s to give the front panel USB Type-C header a massive 60W PD should you need it.
