MSI Z270I Gaming Pro Carbon AC ITX Review

MSI Z270I Gaming Pro Carbon AC ITX Review

Introduction

In our initial look at the latest Kaby Lake products we reviewed a lot of motherboards which were at the higher end of the model range from the various manufacturers. All well and good, but we know that many of you like the combination of compact sizing and affordable pricing that comes from the smaller of the two main form factors, which brings us to today’s review, the Z270I Gaming Pro Carbon, an ITX model from MSI.

MSI have always produced good ITX motherboards, and the Carbon range has been equally impressive, but also working in its favour is the extra few weeks MSI have had to refine the BIOS in comparison to the first releases we looked through at the end of last year. All in all it could prove a fun overclocking experience.

Technical Specifications

The majority of the specifications for the Z270I are exactly what you would hope to find on a Z270 motherboard, with plenty of connectivity options allied to plentiful power phases for some overclocking fun and games. What is worth noting though is that the ITX Carbon only has two DIMM slots, a feature which actually allows for higher memory speeds than you can obtain from a four DIMM setup. It will be fun to see what the MSI has in store in our overclocking tests.
