Introduction and Technical Specifications

Sapphire B850A Nitro+

Introduction

Sapphire are one of the stalwarts in the computing world. Many companies have come and gone, but Sapphire have around for longer than we have. One of the reasons for their success, at least we believe, is that they’ve always ploughed their own furrow. They don’t chase trends. They don’t reinvent themselves for the sake of being ‘new’. They just deliver well crafted, great performing, good looking, reliable hardware.

You might be surprised to see that today we’re giving you a glimpse of an upcoming Sapphire review, and that it’s a motherboard not a graphics card. This isn’t the first Sapphire motherboard there has been. It is, however, the first one we’ve seen for a while and the first that is aimed at the main market rather than occupying a particular niche. The Nitro+ range has been a firm fixture for Sapphire in our graphics card reviews. Now we get to see that philosophy applied to the popular AMD AM5 socket and B850 Chipset.

If the most recent AMD offerings have passed you by then you might not be aware that their B850 range is staggeringly close to their full-fat X870 options. This isn’t like older ones where the B chipset was solely for those on tight budgets and you compromised hugely in feature sets. These are just as good as the X’s but cheaper. Does the Sapphire B850A Nitro+ continue this trend? We’ll find out in our full review later this week, but for now let’s take a closer look.
