ASUS RTX 4090 ROG Strix Review

Introduction

The Strix range from ASUS is the perfect example of what can happen when you redesign a product for a different audience. We’ve been reviewing things for long enough now that we still remember the first Strix products that leant extraordinarily heavily upon the Owl aesthetic. Suffice to say these were about as popular as most ASUS products, but by no means the sales giant that the brand has become since ASUS decided to stray from that initial idea and instead target the Strix range at gamers.

Since then all Strix products have pushed the boat out in terms of lighting and gamer focused features, usually being the first to introduce whatever is going to be the next big thing. As anyone who has tried to get hold of a new Strix product near launch you’ll be aware they sell like hot cakes. And if you wait and try and buy one when the initial fervour has died down you’ll know that their pricing is rigid and almost never falls until your local seller is attempting to clear some end-of-line products.

Therefore the RTX 4090 Strix resembles something of a perfect storm. It’s a flagship Nvidia graphics card, something that recent years have shown to be entirely unable to be made in sufficient quantities to sate demand, and a flagship card in the wildly popular Strix format. The fact we got one at all is something of a miracle.
