Up Close

The public might get a bit sniffy about the Eagle as it’s got a very understated, almost Bauhaus aesthetic. Nothing superfluous, just a cooler that cools the card. Given that you should spend more of your days looking at your display and not in the side window of your case, it’s something we don’t mind at all, especially as it costs you nothing extra over the FE card.

Around the back we have a familiar backplate with bold Eagle branding and the airflow cutout that has become a regular feature on recent graphics cards.

The side gives you a clear indication of how much heatsink the Eagle has to keep that Ampere GPU cool. We’ll never tire of seeing shiny copper heatpipes.

Viewing it from the underside it’s clear how carefully the cooler has been designed. There is no overhang nor places where the heatsink and PCB don’t align perfectly. Attention to detail is important, especially at this price point.

The airflow through port first appeared on the reference design cards and it has proven to be such a successful idea that nearly all the partner cards have a space in the backplate where the air can go up towards the CPU area and help keep everything cool, rather than your GPU acting as a wall between the bottom half of your case and the top.

Lastly the Gigabyte RTX 3070 Ti Eagle has two 8pin PCIe power inputs, thankfully in their regular place and no adaptors required.
