Blender

Regular readers will know how much we love Blender. Not only is it a really cool benchmarking utility, but it’s free. If you’ve ever looked at the price of a pro version of Cinema4D and the like, you’ll realise that free is a bargain. The fact it’s a great renderer is icing on the cake. Anyway, the RTX 3090 allows you to utilise OptiX rendering to offload the Ray Tracing to the graphics card and also, in something equivalent to magic, do live rendering in the viewport. Not having to render frames every time you move lights or adjust materials is a godsend to improving your workflow speed, and the extra performance from the 24 GB frame buffer on the RTX 3090 means that the final render, when you do perform it, finishes quicker too.
