MSI MPG 321URXW QD-OLED Review
Introduction and Technical Specifications
Introduction
It barely feels like a minute has passed since we last looked at a 4K 240Hz QD-OLED panel from MSI, and here we are already looking at a new one.
If you’re a regular reader of these hallowed pages then you’ll be very aware of how much we love white hardware here. The last few years have seen a big improvement in how much you can buy in this palest format. To the point that you can build an entire, premium, gaming rig with peripherals. Getting a good display is less easy, even now. For some reason high end monitors are still available only in black or black.
Talking of high end monitors brings us neatly to today’s review, the MSI MPG 321URXW QD-OLED. That bunch of all caps letters breaks down as follows. MSI, MicroStar International. Although they’ve long since only been known as MSI, we’re old enough to remember what MSI means. MPG is the middle child in the MSI range. MAG at the bottom, MPG in the middle, MEG at the top. The MEG being very much for the well-heeled, or those who won tonight’s Euromillions. 321 because it’s 32 inches diagonally. URXW is UltraHD, White. QD OLED is a strange one. Quantum Dot OLEDs. Quantum Dot is usually used by LED panel manufacturers to try and convince you it’s as good as an OLED. OLEDs are spectacular already. They don’t need booming.
So if you’ve found yourself wishing that you could have a monitor that matched the rest of your rig, this is the one. It’s 4K and, if you like twitchy games instead of visually splendiferous ones, 240Hz. Maybe the recently announced Star Wars Fortnite has piqued your need for such high FPS. It’s not just high speed either, as the grey-to-grey rating is 0.03ms.
