MSI MPG 341CQPX QD-OLED Review

Up Close

There aren’t many boxes that promise a more colourful experience than the MSI MPG 341CQPX QD-OLED. Obviously there is an image on the screen like every display on earth. The rest of the box is similarly bright and cheerful.

Ultrawide panels are always, if you’ll forgive the rather obvious statement, wider than you expect. The 341CQPX is just over 2 1/2ft wide. Monitors are measured corner to corner, and ultrawide ones – as the name suggests – have more of that size utilised horizontally than vertically. This particular model has 31.9 x 12.5 x 16.8 inch/812 x 318 x 427mm WxDxH measurements. Those with big desks only should apply.

A curved panel is great if you suffer from a reflective environment, or at least one with a lot of backlighting. Rather than act like a mirror it instead reflects things off-axis. With the addition of MSIs excellent anti-reflective coating the benefits are clear. Compare this photo to the one above. The 341CQPX QD-OLED isn’t mucking about.

Curved Panel

Too much curving can be a bad thing, bring a pincushion distortion effect. Fortunately MSI have eschewed the option to go full banana with 1200R or similar, although the 1800R curvature is still at the bendier end of the market. It shows the gaming target audience MSI are reaching for. A productivity monitor might only be 3600R or similar.

341CQPX Side On

The back has a graphene film which works in conjunction with a custom heatsink design to mean the MPG 341CQPX QD-OLED display is entirely fanless. Perfect if you’ve ever used an actively cooled display and been driven crazy by the fan noise.

Plus it looks epic.

Connections

All the connections support 3440@240Hz. The Type-C connector also is able to give 96W! With USB for either connecting peripherals – the MSI supports KVM – or just letting you tweak the settings within Windows using the MSI software, you’ve plenty of choice.

Connections

The 5 way OSD control has been moved from the outer edges of the panel on previous designs to the centre.

The stand has good height and tilt adjustment, whilst also looking sleek on your desk.
