MSI Optix MAG272CQR Review

MSI Optix MAG27CQR Review

Introduction

Displays have come a long way in recent years. For the longest while in the post CRT days the only consideration anyone had when purchasing a flatscreen panel was whether it ghosted and, to a lesser degree, how black the blacks were and the likelihood of getting a dead pixel.

That remained the status quo for ages, with manufacturers focussing solely upon producing a panel which was capable of a low latency and improving their manufacturing process so that the concept of getting a dead pixel was relegated to the past. This largely meant that you could buy a display just for its size or price, rather than any other considerations.

Now modern panels are being stuffed with a huge amount of technology as displays take the next step, and the MSI Optix range bring an awful lot of those elements to the table. If you’ve had a glance at the Optix range you’ll see it contains a plethora of models, so the one we have on test is specifically the MAG272CQR. A 27 inch display with a slight curvature, incredible 165Hz refresh rate and 1440 resolution with HDR support. There is even a small RGB section on the rear as you can see from the image at the top of the page.

Let’s see how the MAG272CQR looks in the flesh, and how adjustable the stand is.
