Overclocking Continued

Whenever we overclock we always follow the standard procedure of checking how high you can push each individual element – memory and core – and then working on striking a balance between the two until we have the best possible overclock in a reasonable time frame. Naturally if this was our only card and we had infinite time we could fine tune yet further, but the realities are that our experience combines well enough with the time constraints that we can get very close indeed. As you can see from the top graph you get a much bigger jump in performance by overclocking the GPU than the GDDR6. The Lightning is the top of our stock results, and rocks up in fifth place on the average boost clock. Although as we will see on the subsequent pages, the overclock is significantly better in reality than on paper, with the MSI RTX 2080Ti Lightning topping pretty much every graph.
