MSI RTX 5070 Ti Vanguard SOC Review

Introduction

Any time there is a new graphics card released from a major manufacturer there is always a tier list. At the peak we have the cards we all dream of owning but only a few can afford. Then the card for those who are borderline obsessives, willing to forego many other things in life to have a great gaming experience. Lastly, there are these. The card that everyone actually buys. For the Nvidia Blackwell range that card is the RTX 5070 Ti.

We recently reviewed the MSI Vanguard in RTX 5080 trim. If you saw that and loved the aesthetics then you’ll be pleased to note this RTX 5070 Ti Vanguard has the same cooler. Given that the GPU itself shouldn’t generate as much heat as it’s bigger sibling, this could lead to some lovely frosty temperatures. By being the middle in the MSI range rather than at the Suprim end of the scale it shouldn’t be much above the regular priced cards either*.

Of course where the RTX 5070 Ti Vanguard promises to really stretch its legs is the use of Nvidia’s Multi-Frame Generation technology. FrameGen was excellent on the Ada Lovelace cards, and now the AI powering those generated frames can do multiple ones at once. This makes for some blazing high frame rates. Naturally though the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 have more than enough hardware that they can produce incredible frame rates with raw horsepower. Naturally the RTX 5070 Ti hasn’t got the same oomph available – although it’s no slouch – and therefore the extra FPS provided by the MFG tech should be a bigger benefit.

There is only one way to find out if the newest addition to the Nvidia Ti range is as good as all the rest. Let’s get cracking.

* See conclusion for reality.
