No Man’s Sky PC Performance Retest

No Man's Sky PC Performance Review

Graphical Changes and VRAM usage

Once we started testing one thing was immediately apparent, at ultra settings the game ran much slower meaning that Hello Games have managed to make the game worse, right? Wrong, on day 1 the PC version of the game did not have fully functioning SSAA, which did not apply properly in the game and therefore did not have any performance impact.

Now SSAA X4 applies normally, having a huge impact on performance and VRAM usage. Hopefully, Hello Games will introduce a 2x SSAA option in the future for more variety, but at least the game’s AA does work properly now.

As we can see in the graph below at all settings except for Ultra VRAM usage is down slightly over the day-1 version of the game with the exception of Ultra, which sees an increase of around 700MB. This increase in VRAM usage is due to SSAA.
