Graphical Options and Settings

Total War Warhammer has a wide range of graphical options, but those that are familiar with Total War will be very familiar with most of them.  New to the series is the resolution scaling option, but one noteworthy thing is that there are a lot of settings that can be adjusted to be above the preconfigured Ultra preset.

Above Ultra, you can change MLAA to MSAA and turn on depth of field and screen space reflections, though all of these options do have a massive performance hit on the game.

One addition that I think that Creative Assembly needs to implement into future total War games is the ability to select different graphical options for the Campaign map and on the battlefield, as performance can vary greatly between these modes. Players would also be given the option to play at a higher framerate in the real time battles and crank up the visuals on the campaign map, which is something that I am sure that a lot of Total War fans will want.

Tested settings

We tested the game at the 4 pre-defined graphical presets, only adjusting the game’s textures to match the rest of the pre-selected settings. The game will automatically select suitable texture setting depending on how much VRAM you system has.
