ASUS ROG Pugio Mouse Review

The Pugio comes in a classic ROG box with the mouse front and centre and just enough hints at the lighting to grab the attention of passing people.

Inside the box we find a carry bag, quick start guide, the Pugio mouse itself and a box containing swappable side buttons as well as two different Omron switches to take advantage of the ASUS Switch capability.

  
  

The design of the Pugio is replete with angles and creases. It’s a curious thing that curves seem old fashioned again and angles are the cornerstone of the modern design school. Behind the main LMB/RMB it looks like the ROG tick inverted. The profile switch button is behind a textured scrollwheel and the smooth plastic finish gives the whole thing a nice feel in the hand.

On the underside we have four rubber covers for the screws that let you take the top off and swap the switches out, whilst the feet are small but slippery to keep your mouse moving smoothly over your pad of choice.

  
  

As befits an ambidextrous mouse both side panels combine a rubberised surface for maximum grip with two side buttons, giving you eight in total. Realistically it’s just two extra because of the needs of keeping the back/forward/scroll/LMB/RMB at their default functions, but if you’re determined to customise it to your specific requirements it’s nice to know you can.
