Corsair M65 Ultra Review

The yellow packaging will be familiar to anyone who has ever seen a Corsair box, and given their prevalence everywhere that is even tangentially connected to computing that will be all of you. Clear product imagery, easily recognisable box, full feature list, it’s everything packaging should be.
Within that box we have the M65 Ultra itself, the usual high-quality Corsair guide that describes what everything does and, a trademark of the M65 series in particular, the weights that let you fine tune the heft of your rodent.
Beneath the exterior of the M65 Ultra beats a heart that is, as far as we are aware, unique. Not the 26000 DPI Corsair Marksman sensor which we’ve only just seen in their Sabre RGB Pro, but the Six-Axis gyro that means you can assign functions to tilting the mouse in a particular direction. This is something that would require fine tuning of the lift-off distance to ensure you’re not moving the pointer too much, but having four extra ‘buttons’ available from just a flick of the wrist really opens up some possibilities to you.
The underside will be familiar to anyone who has seen a Corsair M65 before, with a robust metal chassis and three places into which you can easily screw the weights as seen below. In total you can take the M65 Ultra up from its default weight of 97g all the way up to 115g.
Around the side the view is easily recognisable, such is the way the M65 Ultra echoes the design of the initial M65 mouse. A large sniper button sits below the usual back/forward buttons in a textured, recessed, thumb section.
As a mouse very much designed for the 90% of you that are right handed, the M65 Ultra just has texturing on the right hand side to ensure you can keep it under control even during the most frenetic sessions.
Lastly the paracord cable is a fairly new innovation and one that we love. Not only do you get the braided protection for the cable beneath, but it doesn’t kink nor catch anywhere like as easily as a regular braid finish.
