Corsair Sabre RGB Pro Champion Series Review

Regular readers will know that Corsair release a huge number of mice to ensure there are products available to cover every need, and we’ve reviewed them all. It makes the famous yellow box like an old friend, particularly as they rarely miss the mark.
As befits it’s stripped down nature the Corsair Sabre RGB Pro Champion Series comes with a quick start guide, the mouse and .. that’s it. Plug in. Go. Job done.
The large left and right buttons come with Corsair Quickstrike, which pre-tensions the buttons so that there is no gap between the plastic and the Omron microswitch. It’s all about responsiveness and removing any flab and deadzone between your finger pressing them and them actually responding. When you add that to the AXON 8000Hz polling the only excuse left for you missing your click is your skill level.
On teh underside there are large PTFE glide pads which can be replaced should you find it necessary. Maybe it’s us but we find we wear the microswitches out on mice long before there is any perceptible wear on the low friction feet.
As befits its no-nonsense approach the Sabre Pro Champion Series just has a pair of buttons on the side that are large enough to be hit easily but not so large you can hit them by accident. It’s a delicate balance and one it achieves with aplomb. In front of the buttons you can see the DPI indicator.
Rather than have a heavily braided cable that can easily get kinks in it, a few of the recent Corsair products we’ve looked at, this Sabre included, have instead had a paracord type cable that bends easier, straightens with less fuss, and is just a lot less restrictive. If you don’t use a mouse bungee you know that sometimes your cable can get in the way of delicate movements, but the paracord cable here lessens that tremendously.
Corsair list the Sabre Pro Champion Series at 74g, and our scales have it at 72.6g. It’s about as light as you can get before you head in to the territory of mice that have had huge swathes cut from their bodies to cut the weight still further.
