As was slightly given away by the image at the top of the page, the HyperX Alloy Elite isn’t – as we hoped – equipped with RGB lighting but the simple red that we saw on the Alloy FPS. Sure there must be savings involved here, both in LED and software terms, but we think we’d all pay an extra tenner to have something that lights up in the colour we want rather than is only the one shade. Particularly when so much hardware is RGB based these days, so the chances of you having a red system are greatly reduced in comparison to five years ago.

Kingston very kindly call the lightbar;

Which we would be tempted to call hyperbole. Yes it is a nice accentuation to the lovely red looks, but because it’s only red you can’t do anything with it. Unmatched brilliance? Really? Unmatched at this price point maybe.
