MSI Versa 300 Wireless 8K Mouse Review
Conclusion
Conclusion
There is a purity to the MSI Versa 300 Wireless 8K that is glorious if you’re the type of person who loves unity of purpose.
It’s so easy to find products which attempt to be a Swiss Army Knife. “It’s a fan, that has a screen in the middle, and the blades are RGB”. “Yes, but does it push air and remain quiet?”. “It’s got an OLED screen in it”. Ahem. For mice, that tends to be screens, and RGB in all sorts of places. Or maybe it’s loads of buttons positioned in such a manner you can only play palm style and even then you bang buttons unintentionally. Those things are nice, don’t get us wrong. Flexibility and customisation are always positives.
But the main event has to be great too, and the Versa 300 Wireless 8K is great. The first thing you notice is the weight. Or lack of. 66 grams isn’t the lightest on the market, but for a wireless model it’s still very light and does it without any unsightly cutouts. The surface itself is tactile. A blend of smoothness in the right places, and grippy on the sides. Lovely. With a symmetrical design it fits every control style. Admittedly there are no buttons on the right side, so lefties will have to keep using their ring and pinkies. But that symmetry brings comfort no matter your playstyle.
Elsewhere it’s all the big ticket items you’d expect on a quality mouse. Omron switches have been the market leader for years, and with good reason. Lovely and responsive, a nice tactile click when used, and they’ll survive even extreme APS games without flinching. Likewise the sensor is from the fine folks at PixArt. Nearly every major rodent has a PixArt sensor and the PAW-3395 at the heart of the Versa 300 continues that legacy. Lastly the 8000 Hz polling rate ensures that every movement and click is actioned immediately.
The MSI Versa 300 Wireless 8K leaves you no excuses. If you lose, that’s on you, because the Versa 300 did it’s job. At £59.99 there will be few things you can buy that will reward your skill quite as crisply as the Versa 300 Wireless 8K, and it wins our OC3D Gamers Choice Award.
