Roccat Kain 120 AIMO Mouse Review

Roccat Kain 120 AIMO Mouse Review

Up Close

Roccat packaging has been nearly identical since its conception with the only real change on the latest products being the removal of the ice-blue company colour in favour of an all-white setup.

The first thing that strikes you about the Kain is how smooth it is. Most high end mice are heavily sculpted with large palm humps and textured coatings everywhere, but the latest Roccat rodent fits in your hand like holding a weather-worn pebble. It’s an incredibly desirable thing to have beneath your fingertips, oozing quality.

On the underside we have two large feet to help the Kain 120 AIMO glide across your gaming surface of choice, whilst the centrally mounted sensor aids accuracy more than an offset design does.

So often with the sides of mice we find heavily textured, rubberised coatings that the Kain initially had us worried that is would be a slippery customer, but somehow Roccat have coated it with something which looks and feels like a pebble and yet remains firmly in our sweaty paws. Impressive.

The cable is lengthy and braided like so many on premium mice, but we particularly like the inclusion of an identifier on the USB connector. So often we go around the back of our cases to unplug something and try and work out which of the eight identical black plugs in the one we want that having a “this is your mouse” brand is very helpful.

Lastly the smoothness of the Kain 120 AIMO isn’t the only attractive feature, but as you can see below it’s incredibly light too. If you ever feel that mice have become bloated or so sculpted as to stop feeling like an extension of your arm, the lightweight and smooth Kain will be just the ticket.
