We won’t pretend that the simple aesthetics of the Crucial Pro kit are going to be for everyone. The prevalence of RGB lighting and multi-piece heatspreaders attests to their popularity. Generally – and we accept that all generalisations are just that and there are multiple exceptions – kits with more glitz have a higher price point. Additionally if they haven’t, the build quality might not always be as good so as to keep that price low.

The Crucial Pro kits take the opposite approach. All of their monetary value is spent on high quality components and high build quality. The thickness of the heatspreader gives that away. By eschewing the RGB idea, dispensing with grooves, fins, slashes and all the outward displays of modern design theory, the Crucial Pro is perfect for those of you who desire performance at an affordable price point. When times are tight, which they invariably are, spending a larger percentage of the cost on things that make a difference is always going to be the wise choice. If you’re poor and hungry you don’t buy a bowl of wilted spinach with a red wine jus.

As you could see from our testing this approach has borne fruit. The CAS36 timings @ 6000 MHz gives you plenty of bandwidth and reasonably low latency. £110 for a 6000MHz 32GB kit then becomes an extremely attractive proposition. So much so that it frees up your budget to push harder in other areas, thus making this Crucial Pro 32GB DDR5 6000MHz kit worthy of our OC3D Gamers Choice Award. Do bear in mind that we’re considering this at the currently available price. The MSRP of £150 is seriously high compared to other fine kits of the market and would negate this. As it is, at £110, it’s great value.
