Corsair TC500 LUXE Frost Chair Review
Conclusion
Conclusion
The very nature of modern shopping practises means that chairs are something you largely buy with your eyes. Weird considering it is really your bum that you should use. Fortunately for Corsair the TC500 LUXE is very attractive. Naturally we have the white Frost colourway in the office, but the Forest Green model is especially gorgeous. It would be perfect if someone fancied going for a retro “oak office” look.
The LUXE fabric probably demands the most words. At a glance in real life, and pretty much entirely throughout our photographs, you’d be forgiven for thinking it was either leather or lab-grown leather. If you held it with your eyes shut you would, more likely than not, describe it as suede. There is a softness there that belies the textured looks. Then once you sit on it it acts like fabric. It’s quick to warm up if your environment is cool, but similarly remains cool through long use in a manner that leather doesn’t.
Comfort is very much a matter of personal preference. The TC500 LUXE has plenty of adjustments built into it, so you should find a posture that suits you. The arms are about as adjustable as it is possible to be. Lumbar support is exceptional with the dials letting you place it in the perfect spot. What cannot be changed or adjusted is the firmness of the foam inside. This is not a chair for those of you who like squidgy, sink-into-it chairs. It’s for those who prefer to sit on a chair, rather than in it. Perhaps if you were a chunkier human then it might be more up your alley, although a 120KG limit means you can’t be too built like an NFL offensive lineman.
The negatives are minor. Firstly, the all-white colouring. Those of you who game fresh from the garage or yard work perhaps need not apply. Indeed we would suggest that if you happen to perspire freely or wear jeans that aren’t entirely dye-fast you might need to think twice. If, however, you game mainly in your pyjamas and fresh from the shower – or pick one of the alternate colours – then you’ll be fine. Our review sample began to show signs of being sat it after only a week. Secondly, the price is steep. Very much at the premium end. Admittedly not as expensive as plush executive style office furniture, but for gaming chairs right at the upper end.
Corsair’s TC500 LUXE is built very well. The huge amount of adjustments make it easy to find a position that’s comfortable. The fabric keeps you at just the right temperature. Bold logos let you show off your choice of purchase to the masses. Whether the care that the Frost colourway needs, or the firmness of the seat, are things you could tolerate are up to you. If they are, you’re getting a chair that will give you many years of sitting pleasure.
