OC3D goes behind the scenes with Overclockers UK
A quick look at Overclockers UK’s new headquarters
OC3D’s Lord and Master (Owner and Editor), Tom Logan, is travelling north, and on his journey, he’s visited the new headquarters of Overclockers UK, one of the UK’s largest PC retailers. Last year, the company moved into their new Stoke-on-Trent headquarters, expanding the company into a PC juggernaut. Today, we finally got a look inside!
As said above, this is the first time we have visited this new facility, which was purpose-built to suit the company’s needs. Simply put, we were wowed by the scale of this new facility. We were told this site is six times larger than their old one. Furthermore, they have the option to greatly increase its size again if they add a second story to their already large warehouse. If they do that, Overclockers UK’s new site will have ten times as much floorspace as its predecessor. This new site even has dedicated spaces for product photography and filming, explaining all the recent activity on the company’s YouTube channel.
Overclockers UK is HUGE!
The size and scale of Overclockers UK’s operations are immense. Below, we can see just some of the company’s warehousing. Before their move to this new site, some of Overclockers UK’s storage was off-site. Now, everything is in-house, reducing costs while making their production and shipping process more efficient.
The shelving units below are filled with PC motherboards, graphics cards, accessories, and more. The number of components there is astounding, and this inventory doesn’t take long to move. Between PC builds and component shipments, these shelves are frequently emptied and restocked.
While it looks like there is a lot of stock of Nvidia RTX 4000 series GPUs, Overclockers UK told us that they are anticipating new GPU launches in 2025. RTX 40 series GPU stock is ordered as needed, and much of their on-shelf stock has already been allocated to upcoming system builds.
Overclockers UK has not information to give us regarding Nvidia’s RTX 5000 series, though they clearly expect something to launch soon.
Note that we searched for AMD’s illusive Ryzen 7 9800X3D. Sadly, none were to be found at Overclockers UK. Their stock allocation has been sold out, and they have sold all of their 9800X3D allocations until at least mid-January. AMD’s newest X3D CPU sells as fast as AMD can produce and ship them. Currently, we expect retail availability for this CPU to normalise in February 2025.
8-Pack’s systems are NUTS
Sadly, the one-and-only 8-pack wasn’t in when we visited Overclockers. That said, we did get a glimpse of one of his systems. Below is a crazy-powerful workstation system with four liquid-cooled Nvidia RTX 4090 graphics cards. This is an Overclockers UK RENDA series system, and I don’t want to know how much it costs.
This system has an entirely custom cooling solution designed by the 8-Pack team. We asked who their clientele was for this kind of system, but Overclockers UK sadly couldn’t tell us much. Let’s say that the list is impressive and includes film developers, big-name engineering companies, racing teams, and others. Hopefully, that won’t ruffle any feathers.
Overclockers UK doesn’t just make systems with such crazy specifications. They also build systems for us normies. There were a lot of PCs ready for testing. This testing ensures that all components are working correctly before a system ships. That ensures that end users will have an excellent out-of-the-box PC experience. After all, their testing ensures that dead or faulty components have been removed and replaced before shipping.
Sadly, we didn’t have the time to go in-depth into everything Overclockers UK does these days. That said, I hope you enjoyed this little look behind the curtain.
