Power Efficiency Testing

Within our efficiency charts, ASUS’ ROG Loki 850W Platinum power supply sits exactly where it should in our graphs. With this PSU being an 80+ Platinum power supply, we should not expect its efficiency levels to be chart-topping. That said, the Loki is one of the most efficient SFX-L PSUs that we have ever tested, and certainly meets the requirements of 80+ Platinum PSUs with its 92.7% efficiency at 100% loads.

It is worth noting here that we did not connect this PSU’s 12VHPWR cable to our PSU tester, as it was created long before the 12VHPWR cable standard was designed and we are currently unable directly connect the cable to our SUNMOON PSU tester. We to address this shortcoming in the future.

Ripple testing

Voltage ripple is an important aspect of PSU design. To put it simply, PSUs with low levels of voltage ripple are able to provide the voltages with should with minimal deviance. High levels of voltage ripple ensure a high level of system stability, which is great for overclockers and those who want to maximise their system’s longevity.

At the top of our charts are Corsair’s original 2014 RM1000 power supply, and we will say here that its relatively high levels of ripple aren’t terrible, or anything to worry about. That said, it highlights how strong most modern PSU designs are when it comes to voltage ripple, and the ROG LOKI 850W Platinum is no exception. With less than 20mV of ripple throughout our testing, ROG Loki users have nothing to worry about when it comes to voltage instability.
