MSI Power Supply Range Buyers Guide
MSI MEG Ai1300P
MSI MEG Ai1300P
The final model we’re looking at in our MSI Power Supply buyers guide is very much the flagship of their range. By pretty much every metric it’s clear why this earns the premium MSI MEG branding.
Let’s run through them. 1300W. That’s a ton of power and enough to ensure that even if you’re pushing something akin to our test system – Core i9-14900KS and RTX 4090 – you’ll be fine. Best of all you’ll probably only be pulling 50% of the potential of the AI1300P, and that puts you in the efficiency sweet spot. Great efficiency helps reduce your energy bill, keeps heat out your system, and minimises voltage ripple which looks after all your components. It’s clearly a much larger initial investment, but it brings nothing but benefits in every measurable.

Up Close
All the MSI MEG products lean into the black and gold aesthetic, and the Ai1300P is no exception. The places on the MPG pairs that were silver, are gold here. It’s perfect if you are lucky enough to own a Godlike motherboard.
See. Gold. Lovely. We know Gold can be tacky in certain cases, but MSI MEG is never one. It isn’t gaudy. Think of it less like a dictators bathroom, and more like the gold accents on a porcelain dining set.
The MEG is also a 10mm larger than the other three we’ve gone over in our buyers guide, most noticeable in this photograph. The fan is still huge, and more than capable of keeping even this 1300W power supply nice and cool.
You might wonder why the rear doesn’t have the Zero Fan option like the MPG ones did. That will become clear in a moment.
Connections and Cables
Around the back you really get a feel for how much of a flagship model this MSI MEG Ai1300P is. Tons of connections, including a USB one that allows you to control and monitor it via software. That’s why the Zero Fan option isn’t a physical button.
MSI save you a fortune in 3rd party cables by providing individually braided cables for the MEG. Given that a 3rd Party kit is around £100 for a fresh braided cable set, suddenly the price of the MEG seems not only reasonable but a bargain.
Here is the USB cable that connects the power supply to your rig, letting you keep an eye on it with the MSI software.
It’s worth noting how robust the 6+6 Nvidia 4000 series power cable is. We know there was a lot of trouble in the initial weeks of this connector, but the manufacturers have all solved those issues. MSI are no exception. Chonky.
Software
The software lets you keep an eye on a host of statistics as well as adjusting a few elements. It’s quiet enough even running hard that Zero Fan mode isn’t necessary, but similarly we know how sensitive some peoples hearing is. Our lead writer for one.
