Ghost of Tsushima PC Performance Review and Optimisation Guide
CPU Performance
You don’t need a huge core count to play Ghost of Tsushuma on PC
In our custom test scene for Ghost of Tsushima, we found it hard to make the game CPU-limited. We even tried to run this game at 1080p with DLSS set to Performance Mode on an RTX 4070 Ti. That wasn’t enough make the game CPU-bound. For context, that’s having the game run at 540p and upscaling it to 1080p using Nvidia’s DLSS tech. Even then, the game appeared to be fully GPU-bound.
This makes a lot of sense, after all, Forbidden West is a PlayStation 4 game. It needs to run well on 2013’s PlayStation 4, and it has a very weak CPU by today’s standards.
When disabling CPU cores on our Intel i9-13900K CPU, we found that Ghost of Tsushima’s PC performance did not change much. Only when we had four active P-cores did we see a notable drop in this game’s framerate, but even then the drop was minor. This game should run well on most gaming PCs, even if they have a potato processor.
