Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus PC Performance Review

High-Resolution Screenshot/graphical comparison – Low to Max settings

Wolfenstein II is a beautiful game, offering a world that is filled with polygonal detail, advanced lighting and a world that isn’t photorealistic but remains true to its art style and leaves no obvious room for improvement aside from the resolution of some textures.

It is hard not to be reminded of DOOM (2016) here, as this game utilises the same engine and offers similar fast-paced, run-and-gun gameplay, albeit with some very different enemy types and weapons at your disposal.

Moving through the game’s graphical presets it is clear that some of the largest visual differences when moving from preset to preset comes in the form of enhanced distant detail and enhanced shadow quality/resolution, with higher quality presets delivering enhanced detail on distant materials as well as enhanced lighting and fluid effects.

Even moving up to the game’s highest Mein Leben! graphical preset presents users with an obvious increase in shadow quality, with the game on all settings applying a blur effect to shadow edges to offer a soft appearance with no aliasing.

One thing to note is that all of the game’s graphical presets offer TSSAA, which gets rid of almost all of the game’s aliasing, even at a resolution of 1080p, making the game appear very smooth.
