The ROG Rig

The ASUS ROG Rig

Up Close

No matter how much the internals of your setup matter more to you, there is no denying that a case can provide a big first impression to anyone glancing at it. Indeed you can almost have anything at all on the inside if the outside is suitably ‘wow’ inducing. There is no doubt that the ROG Strix Helios with its tempered glass panels, AURA lighting and multiple ways to mount your GPU is a visual wake up call. It looks good when the system is off, but with all the lights doing their thing is where it really shines and that’s how we’re largely going to show it to you on the next couple of pages. With a lot of care taken in the design on where you can route your cables the interior is as impressive as the exterior.

If you enjoy the ability to light up every last bit of the inside of the Helios case then our particular build will tick all your boxes. From the visible logo and power draw at the bottom, the front-mounted GPU letting the fan shroud strut its stuff, up to the Ryujin CPU cooler and LED fans alongside the G.Skill Trident Z memory, everywhere you look is bright and on brand.

The ASUS ROG Rig Overview

The ROG Ryujin 360 is an AIO cooler with a whole host of features to rise it above the commonplace. There is a LiveDash OLED display should you wish to keep a beady eye upon your temperatures or just show of your own logo/name. Additionally a small fan built into the CPU cooler section helps blow air across your VRMs to keep them frosty under even the heaviest loadings. The fans are from Noctua, so you know they’ll both be high performers but quiet and long lasting. Finally as you would expect from a ROG product there are lighting options aplenty. Wrap all this up with sleeved tubing and a huge radiator and even the Ryzen 7 3800X wont get warm.

Moving onto the graphics card and we have the ASUS ROG Strix RX 5700 XT OC Edition. A graphics card which is amongst the best of the tightly performing Navi GPU cards and has all the hallmarks of the ROG Strix range with triple PWM fans and RGB lighting. The Helios allows you to mount it in the regular fashion or this way around. Given how nice the front of the card is it makes sense to go with this orientation.

The ROG Thor is an 850W power supply that has a very cool feature built into it which the Helios is perfectly designed to show off. Namely there is a live display on the side of exactly how hard it is working. Perfect if you are keeping a close eye on your energy consumption.
