Zotac Zbox Plus ID45 Review

Zotac Zbox Plus ID45 Review

AIDA64

AIDA64 is a benchmark suite containing a plethora of tests for the whole system. For our needs we singled out the tests that represent the performance of the CPU and the memory.

CPU

Due to being a mobile processor, it’s no shock that the i3 3227U in the ID45 falls short of its bigger desktop brother, which itself falls way behind the AMD offerings.

It’s odd to see the Intel chips score so much lower than AMD in the AES tests but we’ve double checked all results, and that’s how Intel seems to fare in these tests. The ID45 does significantly fall behind, but as it is 1.4GHz slower per core than the i3 3220, this isn’t really news to us.

Memory

The Memory tests here give us insight into how fast the memory controllers within the processors are, and also how fast the RAM is.

The ID45 does pull back a few points in the memory tests, where it narrowly beats both of the AMD offerings. This is most likely down to the ID45 having faster RAM speed (1600MHz compared to 1333MHz on the AMD chips). However we were expecting the laptop memory modules to fall behind a little more, so this still a positive point for the ID45, as it shows being a compact system with laptop hardware doesn’t necessarily have to impact performance.
