Battlefield V’s PC version currently lacks support for DXR Ray Tracing
While this could be seen as a major negative for the game, it is worth remembering that Microsoft’s Windows 10 October Update, which dring support for DXR to the OS, is not available to the public at this time. This giving EA/DICE little reason to offer support for the feature out of the gate, especially if there is any optimisation work that still needs to be done.
DICE plans to release an RTX update in the near future, with is targeting a date before the Deluxe Edition’s release window, which means that we should receive the update within the next week.
DirectX Raytracing (DXR) – DXR enables realistic real-time ray traced reflections in Battlefield V for players with NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics cards including the GeForce RTX 2070, 2080, and 2080 Ti. An early release of DXR will be available in an upcoming patch, near the Battlefield V Deluxe Edition release window. EA, DICE, and NVIDIA will also continue to optimize this implementation and deliver regular updates after its release.
Let’s be honest, most PC gamers are unaffected by Battlefield V’s lack of DXR support, as the feature is only available on three recently released graphics cards and is not available on today’s consumer version of Windows 10, making the feature effectively pointless until the Windows 10 October Update releases.
