MSI GS63VR 7RF Stealth Pro 4K Review

Introduction

We’ve reviewed a fair number of MSI laptops here at the hallowed OC3D Towers, and as soon as they designed the chassis that we have here in the form of the GS63VR 7RF Stealth Pro it has been an endless parade of successful offerings. The combination of premium looks, a full RGB Steelseries keyboard and the flexibility to accept a wide variety of hardware configurations has meant that you can buy any model from their range and be sure that you’ve got a great product.

Today we’re looking at the latest in their long range, a laptop equipped with a Core i7-7700HQ, backed up by 16GB of DDR4, a 240GB NVMe drive, GeForce GTX 1060 and a 4K display. How does it perform?

Technical Specifications

As you would expect from one of MSIs laptops the GS63VR 7RF Stealth Pro comes with all the latest hardware. Whether it’s the Core i7-7700HQ at the heart of it, the NVMe M.2 SSD that drives your OS, or the multitude of connectivity options from the Intel Thunderbolt port through a Type-C USB 3.1 port and all the way up to HDMI and Mini DisplayPort options. Surprisingly for a 15″ display our review sample is equipped with the 4K display option. We’ve often felt that 4K is just too small on anything below about 27″, so it will be interesting to see how it fares on such limited screen space.
