DLSS, XeSS, and FSR 3 are all broken in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 at launch

All of Black Ops 6’s AA-altering Upscaling Options are Broken at launch

We are testing the PC version of Black Ops 6 and have some bad news: DLSS, XeSS, and FSR 3 are not working as intended. At their “Native” resolution options, all of them are giving us 40+% performance drops. That means these upscalers must be set to their respective “quality” or “balanced” modes before performance parity with native resolution rendering occurs. As such, DLSS, FSR 3, and XeSS are simply not worth enabling in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, at least at launch.

Beyond performance, we can also report that DLSS has flickering issues in areas of Black Ops 6 with water. However, we have seen similar flickering issues when we use AMD FSR 1. Clearly, Beenox and Treyarch need to address these issues, as they are giving PC gamers a sub-par gaming experience.

While Black Ops 6 isn’t a hugely demanding game, that doesn’t excuse these upscaling performance issues. Call of Duty is one of the biggest budget gaming franchises out there. As such, gamers should expect a high-quality PC release. Simply put, these kinds of performance issues are inexcusable. How did this get past any Quality Assurance (QA) checks?
