MSI pushes the limits of monitor tech with their 600Hz MPG 242R X60N
MSI’s new MPG 242R X60N monitor is insanely fast
Even today, 60+ FPS framerates remain the performance target for most gamers. Regardless, there has always been a driver for faster framerates and monitors that can display them. At CES 2025, MSI is scratching this itch with their MPG 242R X60N, which will soon be the fastest monitor on the market with its 600Hz refresh rate.
This new gaming screen features a 24.1-inch Rapid-TN panel with 0.5ms response times. This enabled high levels of motion clarity for a TN monitor type. However, it should be noted that this monitor uses a 1080p panel.
The MPG 242R X60N is targeted at the esports market, offering users an optimal screen size with minimal levels of input latency. The screen has two HDMI 2.0b inputs and one DisplayPort 1.4 input. The screen also features a 3-way USB hub. This monitor also features a USB-Type-C input with 98W power delivery and supports DisplayPort Alt input options.
With its staggeringly fast 600Hz refresh rate, this new Rapid-TN screen is ten times faster than standard 60Hz displays. That’s a full order of magnitude faster than what’s considered normal. However, it is worth noting that 144Hz+ gaming displays are becoming increasingly common.
At CES 2025, MSI has also showcased an expanded range of OLED monitors, including a 500Hz 1440p monitor and a 240Hz 4K monitor.
