AMD opens pre-orders for its RX 9070 GRE GPU in China

AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 GRE will be released on May 8th in China

AMD has officially unveiled its Radeon RX 9070 GRE, which appears to be a China-only product. Pre-orders for the GPU are now open, and their fulfilment date is May 8th.

AMD has officially launched its third RDNA 4 series graphics card. Performance-wise, AMD claims that this new GPU outperforms its last-generation RX 7900 GRE by 6%. Price-wise, pre-orders for this GPU are available for around 4499 RMB.

It is unknown if or when this new RDNA 4 graphics card will be released in Western markets. If the RX 7900 GRE is anything to go by, the RX 9070 GRE could be released in other markets later this year. Alternatively, it could arrive in early 2026.

RX 9070 GRE Specifications

In terms of raw compute performance, AMD’s RX 9070 GRE isn’t far behind the RX 9070 (34.3 TFLOPs vs 36.1 TFLOPs). AMD’s new RX 9070 GRE also features a slimmed-down memory bus (192-bit VS 256-bit) and less GDDR6 memory (12GB VS 16GB). Furthermore, the RX 9070 GRE also features slower GDDR6 memory (18 Gbps VS 20 Gbps).

Both the RX 9070 GRE and RX 9070 feature a TDP of 220W, making both GPUs broadly similar. That said, the GRE will be more cost-effective to produce, due to its lower number of required GDDR6 memory chips.
