Valorant upgrades to Unreal Engine 5 on July 29th
Riot promises “improved framerate performance” with Valorant’s Unreal Engine 5 upgrade
Riot Games has confirmed that its Unreal Engine 5 upgrade for Valorant will be released on July 29th with update 11.02. While the update will change the game’s engine from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5, the change will not dramatically alter the game’s visuals.
Riot has stated that the change will not “disrupt your gameplay”. Furthermore, the studio has claimed that the game’s overall look and feel should be the same. Additionally, the upgrade is expected to improve the game’s “framerate performance.” Contrary to popular belief, the move to Unreal Engine 5 should boost Valotant’s performance, not decrease it.
In the short terms, we’ve gone to great lengths to make sure that the upgrade doesn’t disrupt your gameplay, so the game’s overall look, feel, and all your crazy lineups should still be similar. The patch will, however, come with changes that will improve framerate performance, make patch downloads faster in the future, and there will also be a special gun buddy to commemorate the occasion.
Why Valorant is moving to Unreal Engine 5
Valorant’s developers have previously stated that they have “squeezed literally every ounce of everything we could get out of UE 4.” Moving to Unreal Engine 5 gives Riot Games access to new features and technologies, giving them a stronger technological foundation.
The move to Unreal Engine 5 gives Riot’s developers new possibilities to explore. These possibilities will allow Valorant to continue to grow and expand well into the future.
