Microsoft’s Xbox PC app now supports Steam and other storefronts

The Xbox PC app can now aggregate games from Steam and other PC storefronts

Following an extensive preview, Microsoft has started rolling out its aggregated game library to all Xbox PC app users. This allows them to access their Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, and Battle.net games from a single location. Great news for PC gamers who want a unified gaming library and the perks that come from using multiple storefronts (cheaper games!).

This update will come as great news for users of handheld Windows-powered gaming PCs. After all, using multiple storefronts on these devices can be a hassle when many lack good gamepad control options. This Xbox App update will allow gamers to get into their games faster, regardless of their preferred gaming storefront.

When gamers install a game using a supported PC storefront, that game will appear in their Xbox PC games library.

This update arrives one month prior to the release of the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X. This aggregated storefront will be vital for the future of Microsoft’s “Xbox PC” ambitions and the future of Windows-powered handheld gaming. Strong Steam integration is important for the Xbox PC app, as SteamOS will be a primary competitor to Microsoft’s “Xbox PC” handhelds.
