be quiet Light Base 500 LX PC Case Review
Meet the be quiet light Base 500 LX
be quiet! has entered the panoramic case arena
be quiet! has just released its Light Base 500 series of PC cases, pairing a panoramic window aesthetic with a high-airflow case design. The result is a case that is purpose-built for gaming PCs, with options for strong GPU-focused airflow due to its dual-chambered design and huge number of air intake options.
One case, three options
The Light Base 500 is available in three forms. The first is the Light Base 500, which ships with four Pure Wing 3 120mm fans but lacks RGB lighting. This model comes with three reverse-blade intake fans and one exhaust fan and is only available in black.
Next, we have the Light Base 500 LX. This version of the Light Base 500 ships with 4 Light Wings LX 120mm fans. This includes three reverse-blade fans as intakes and one standard 120mm fan as an exhaust. This version for the Light Base 500 is available in Black and White and includes an ARGB controller and fan hub.
All versions of this case are built to support 360mm liquid cooling radiators at the top and three bottom-mounted 120mm fans for direct GPU airflow. These cases also support back-connect PC motherboards (including ASUS BTF and MSI Project Zero/PZ). Note that this case has two PSU mounting locations.
Is that a pillar?
The Light Base 500 series has a unique “pillar” design on its right, giving the case’s three included 120mm intake fans more direct airflow access. This design distinguishes the Light Base 500 from many of its competitors and gives the case a unique look.
Included Fan Controller (for the LX models)
The LX version of the Light Base 500 includes a fan/RGB controller. This can be hooked into your motherboard to control up to six 3-pin RGB products and six fans. Note that this controller occupies a 3.5-inch drive mount inside the Light Base 500 LX and is riveted, making it hard to move.
Accessories
Included with the Light Base 500 is all the screws you will need to make full use of the chassis. We also have some included cable ties and a vertical GPU mounting bracket. Honestly, this vertical GPU mount is a simple add-on that most modern PC cases should include. It’s a simple and effective solution for users.
