As you can see immediately from the image that graces the top of this page, this is not your average build. The ASUS Republic of Gamers product range has long been known for its quality and aesthetics. The hardware we have available is the cream of the crop. Ooh yeah /MachoMan. Wherever you look you see little touches that show what is possible when a massive company flexes its muscles.
What can you see? Primarily, the incredible ROG GR20 20th Anniversary Case. Normally when you see one of these it’s the standard “influencer” build where every part is a matching 20th Anniversary thing. Largely because the components are in such limited quantities. We’ve been given free reign by ASUS under their PC DIY banner to build it how we wish, so we have. Obviously we went with the 20th Anniversary Crosshair motherboard. Not because it matches the 20th aesthetic, but because it’s the best AMD motherboard you can get. Big claim? We don’t think so.
Big Red Beauty
Clearly the RTX 5090 Matrix is the thing you see the most obviously. It’s bound to stand out. It’s huge, and very red. You’ll know from the many TTL things that red is the bosses favourite colour, and the Matrix comes out of the box in the colour we joking call Tom Red. That’s fortunate for our purposes too. Whilst the internet loses its mind about the generative AI in DLSS 5, we’re still reaping the fruits of the Nvidia labours on DLSS 4.5. It’s frankly ridiculous how good it is. Visually almost imperceptible differences to it being off. Frame rates though go through the roof. That’s something we’ll come to in our testing on subsequent pages.
What Else?
If we are talking about games then it’s difficult not to think of the AMD X3D processors. With everything else being so beefy we have to get the flagship AMD Ryzen onboard, and in our socket beats the Ryzen 9 9950X3D. Cooled by the ROG Ryuo IV SLC 360 ARGB it can easily be tamed, whilst giving us a screen on which to demonstrate our taste. Or, more usually, clan logos. With the glitzy G.Skill Trident Royal Neo 6000 memory running swiftly, and the stunning ROG Thor III Platinum power supply giving everything the juice it requires, we’re all set to hit some high scores. Let’s get testing.
